Donald Trump Jr. pushed back against a report by Mediaite on Friday that claimed he is considering a 2028 presidential run.

The report cited three anonymous sources who allegedly stated that Trump Jr. was “seriously considering” a bid for the White House.

However, Trump Jr. himself strongly denied the claim, responding bluntly to a Mediaite reporter’s inquiry.

Elon Musk Called This Financial News 'Terrifying'

“I accurately predicted that my buddy JD would be an instant power player in national GOP politics, so your theory is that I worked my ass off to help get him the VP nomination because I want to run for president in 2028? Are you f**king retarded?” Trump Jr. said, according to the outlet.

Despite his direct denial, Mediaite ran the article under the headline: “Donald Trump Jr. Considering a Run For President in 2028.” His statement was included in the article but was buried in the 12th paragraph.

Trump Jr. also criticized the outlet for relying on anonymous sources and dismissed the credibility of the report.

“I’m actually glad you’re printing this bullsh*t though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how sh*tty your ‘sources’ are and how easily you’re played by them. Congrats, moron,” his statement concluded, according to Mediaite.

Trump Jr. was the only named source in the article, yet the outlet proceeded to publish the story, giving weight to the claims of unnamed individuals.

The report quickly drew backlash online, with many questioning Mediaite’s journalistic standards. Republican strategist Andrew Surabian noted that even other media professionals in Washington were ridiculing the story.

“Every reporter in DC I know is sending me the story mocking Mediaite for running it. Total clowns,” Surabian tweeted on Friday.

The article’s handling of Trump Jr.’s statement, as well as its reliance on unnamed sources, has fueled criticism of media outlets that publish speculative reports without solid confirmation.

The controversy highlights the ongoing tensions between conservative figures and mainstream political media, particularly when it comes to coverage of the Trump family.

Trump Jr. has remained a prominent figure in Republican politics and played a key role in supporting his father’s reelection campaign.

However, he has made no public statements indicating interest in running for office himself.
