California Governor Gavin Newsom just announced a new podcast, but instead of enthusiasm, he got a wave of well-earned mockery.

As reported by The New York Post, social media users torched the Democrat leader, pointing out the chaos under his leadership rather than celebrating his latest vanity project.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom speaks to media in the spin room before the ABC News Presidential Debate.

“California is a burnt mess that’s wallowing in financial ruin. So, Gavin Newsom naturally launches a podcast. WTH?!” conservative commentator Paul Szypula quipped on X.

Newsom took to the platform Tuesday morning to unveil This is Gavin Newsom, a show he claims will be “anything but the ordinary ‘politician’ podcast.”

Elon Musk Called This Financial News 'Terrifying'

Do you think President Trump should give taxpayers some of the money back from what DOGE is finding?

Flashing his signature smirk, he promised to feature guests he “disagrees with” alongside those he “looks up to.” The governor also vowed to explore “real conversations” on issues affecting Americans.

“What’s going on with the cost of eggs? What are the impacts – the real impacts – to you around tariffs?” he mused, seemingly oblivious to the more pressing disasters unfolding in his state.

As if that weren’t bizarre enough, Newsom threw in a cryptic teaser: “What’s really going on inside of DOGE?” Perhaps he thinks discussing meme coins will distract from the homeless encampments, failing infrastructure, and mass exodus of businesses under his watch.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom speaks to media Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Sequoia National Park before signing a $15 billion climate package into law that will help bolster the state’s response to climate change. Drought Wild Fire Prevention

His podcast, produced by iHeartMedia, marks his second foray into the medium—he currently co-hosts Politickin’ with former NFL player Marshawn Lynch and sports agent Doug Hendrickson.

But if the response to this new project is any indication, he won’t be winning over many listeners.

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, wasted no time reminding the governor of his infamous hypocrisy during the pandemic:

“Let’s start with why did you throw a party for yourself at the French Laundry with no masks on in the middle of Covid when California had just about the strictest COVID regs in the country and thousands of small businesses were going outta business because of said policies?”

The French Laundry scandal, which saw Newsom dining at one of the most exclusive restaurants in the country while forcing lockdowns on everyday Californians, still lingers as a symbol of his arrogance. Though he apologized in 2023, few have forgotten the blatant double standard.

Investigative journalist Andrew Kerr from The Washington Free Beacon had another idea for a podcast episode:

“Hi Gavin, I would love to come on your show to discuss why your administration shut down a rockstar wildfire team under your command then lied to the public about their heroic accomplishments after I reported on your actions,” he posted.

Meanwhile, Republican California State Rep. Carl DeMaio offered a fitting title for the show:

“Gavin Newsom launches a new podcast. What name would you give it? My choice: ‘Gaslighting with Gavin.’”

Conservative reporter Brianna Lyman took aim at Newsom’s misplaced priorities:

“Your state is literally in shambles, homelessness is a massive problem, communities are still just ash and you think now is the good time to launch a … podcast?”

California GOP Chair John Dennis didn’t hold back either, summing up the collective reaction with a brutal zinger:

“I’d rather pour acid in my ears than listen to a Gavin Newsom podcast.”

While Newsom fancies himself a future presidential contender, this reaction proves that even his own constituents see through the charade.

With California struggling under his disastrous leadership, launching a podcast about anything but his failures is just another insult to the people who have to live with the consequences of his policies.

And, of course, his office didn’t bother responding to requests for comment—probably too busy scripting the next episode of Gaslighting with Gavin.
